As everyone loves to travel and if the places are connected to nature, then it is the best feeling one can experience.

Goa is a state located in west coast of India. Panaji is the capital of Goa, and Vasco da Gama is the largest city of Goa. The official language of Goa is Konkani. However, English, Hindi and Marathi are also spoken there. It is the smallest state in India in terms of area and fourth smallest in terms of population. Goa is known for its natural beauties, its beaches, scenic beauty, vibrant nightlife, and colonial architecture.

Goa is also famous for its cuisine, which is a blend of Indian and Portuguese influences. Overall Goa is a unique and fascinating state in India that offers a mix of culture, history, and natural beauty.

History-

The history of Goa is connected or related to prehistoric times when it was inhabited by the tribes. In the third century BC, Goa was the part of the Maurya Empire, which was ruled by Ashoka of Magadha, followed by the Satavahana's, the Chalukya's, and the Rastrakuta's.

In the 14th century, Goa came under the rule of the Vijayanagara Empire, which was based in South India.

However, in 1510, the Portuguese under the command of Afonso de Albuquerque captured Goa from the Sultan of Bijapur, and it became a Portuguese colony. Under Portuguese colony, Goa became an important trade center. The Portuguese built many churches, cathedrals, and many more buildings in Goa.

But in 1961, India recaptured Goa, and it became union Territory. In 1987, it was granted statehood, becoming the 25th state at that time.

Culture-

The culture of Goa is a mix of Indian and Portuguese influences. Goan culture is characterized by its vibrant music, dance, food, and festivals.

Music and dance play an important role in Goan culture. As it was the blend of Indian and western influences, with the instruments like mandolin, guitar and violin used for it. The popular Goan dance forms in Goa are Mando, the dulpod, and the fugdi.

Festivals are an integral part of Goan culture, as they reflect the state's diverse cultural influences.

Overall, the culture of Goa is rich and diverse, which reflects it's food, dance, music, festivals, and architecture.

How to reach-

One can reach Goa by different means of transportation like flight, by train, by road.

-By Air: The Dabolim Airport is well connected to major Indian cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai and more other cities. So, you can travel to Goa in less time and in a comfortable way.

-By Train: If you come from middle class family and have low budget like me then train is the best option for you. You can travel to Goa in third class ac in approx. 1300 to 2000 rupees. Goa has two major railways stations, Madgaon and Thivim, which are well connected to major cities in India.

-By Road- Goa is also well connected to road so, you can also travel through public road transport as well as with your personal vehicle.

Once in Goa, you can hire taxis, buses, and rented vehicles to travel around the city. You can also rent scooters and bikes, which are a popular and convenient way to explore Goa's beaches and many more attractions. 

Places to Visit-

1. Palolem Beach.

It is known for its beautiful, splendid view, which makes it possible to see both the ends from the centre of the beach. It is among the most serene beaches in Goa, and it must visit beaches if you are in Goa. You will feel so calm and relaxed and forgot all your worries when you step onto the beach. it is situated in Canacona in Southern Goa. The beach attracts many international tourist and domestic tourist as well, mainly during winter season between November and March.

2. Baga Beach.

It is located in the town, Bardez, Goa. It offers a wide range of water sports (discussed below) and one of the most visited beaches in Goa. This beach is also famous for its street-side market and designer stores. It is one of the places, where you should head with your partner to enjoy marine activities. This place is visited by thousands of tourists every year. The beach contains rows of shacks and fishing boats. 

3.Old Goa.

It is a historical site and city situated on the southern banks of the river Mandovi. The city was established by Bijapur Sultanate in the 15th century AD. After the Portuguese conquest of Goa. It served as the capital of Portuguese Indian possessions, such as Bombay territory and the state of Cochin, until its abandonment in the 18th century AD. Under Portuguese rule, it was the city of nearly 200,000 people. 

4. Fort Aguada.

Fort Aguada was the most prized and crucial fort of Portuguese.  It was built in 1612 to guard and defend the Portuguese strong hold in Goa against the Maratha and Dutch invaders. It was built on the mouth of Mandovi River, it was strategically located and was the chief defense of Portuguese. It is worth visiting among the remaining Portuguese castle in Goa. September to March is the best time to visit the Aguada Fort. This is the great time for sightseeing activities.

5.Dudhsagar Falls.

It is located on the border of the Goa and Karnataka. This majestic waterfall is one of India's tallest and most beautiful waterfalls. It is four-tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River, 60 km from Panaji by road. I had visited this waterfall with my friends in a group. The entry fee is 500 rupees for age above 3 years. You can visit this waterfall throughout the year except rainy season, as the roads are closed at that time.

6. Calangute Beach.

It is one of the most famous and busiest beaches in Goa, which is known for its golden sand and water sports activities. It is a town in the North Goa district of the Indian state of Goa. It is located 13 km from Panaji. It is famous for its beach, the largest in North Goa and a popular tourist destination. The peak tourist season is during Christmas and New Year. 7.Anjuna Flea Market.

This market is famous for clothes, souvenirs, jewelry, and handicrafts at this market held every Wednesday in Anjuna. Anjuna beach is an ideal choice for nature buffs, who loves to enjoy parties during New Year's and Christmas. This market started in 1970s as a gathering for hippies to exchange their belongings. Apart from shopping, the market also features like music performances, food stalls serving delicious goan and international cuisine.

8. Chapora Fort.

Chapora Fort is located in Bardez Taluka. Chapora Fort is easily accessible from the market town of Mapusa, which is about 10 km away. The site was the location of a Fort built by Muslim ruler Adil Shah called Shahpura, whose name the Portuguese altered to Chapora. It is now became the popular tourist site and offers a view north across the Chapora river to Pernem, south over Vagator and also far out to the Arabian Sea in the west. It is also the place for Bollywood shooting.

Beach hopping means visiting multiple beaches one after the other. Its a great way to get an overview of particular area. If you are visiting an island, beach hopping could be the best way to find your favorite spot and the place you want to set for the remainder of your visit.

2. Hot Air Balloon.

Not everyone knows about these activities in Goa. This is one of the most excite activities to do in Goa for bachelors, families, and couples. Enjoying the jaw dropping view of Goa while the balloon rises to 900 feet.

Winter (November to February): This is the peak tourist season in Goa, as the weather is pleasant and dry. The temperatures range from 15°C (59°F) to 30°C (86°F), making it ideal for beach activities and outdoor exploration. This period sees numerous festivals and parties, including Christmas and New Year celebrations. However, popular beaches can get crowded, and accommodation prices tend to be higher during this time.

Summer (March to May): The summer season in Goa is hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 25°C (77°F) to 35°C (95°F) or higher. It's less crowded during this time, and you can find better deals on accommodations. If you can handle the heat, you can still enjoy the beaches and water activities. It's advisable to carry sunscreen and stay hydrated.

Monsoon (June to September): The monsoon season brings heavy rainfall to Goa, and the weather is generally wet and humid. However, if you enjoy the lush green landscapes, fewer tourists, and lower prices, visiting during the monsoon can be a unique experience. The rain showers can be intermittent, and you can still find pockets of sunny weather. Do note that some beach shacks and water sports activities may be closed during this time.
